Moulin Rouge - The Musical

Al Hirschfeld Theatre

During its brainstorming stage, Moulin Rouge! The Musical needed to take on the challenge of exceeding or at least being at equal footing with the previous movie produced before it. As viewers can attest to, Moulin Rouge in Broadway has more than lived up to the name with repeated standing ovations from viewers all over the world. Broadway World’s Miranda Keating even lauded the musical after viewing, saying “Honestly, as as I entered the theatre, I was instantly plunged into the beauty of what was designed as 19th century Paris. When the production ended, I originally had no visible reaction. I was blown away by the whole musical.” The show continues its runs to date, now available in New York and to be performed at Al Hirschfeld Theatre on Saturday 26th October 2024, Al Hirschfeld Theatre renowned for being one of the state's finest entertainment venues with complete lighting and sound design, large seating capacity, and modern furnishings both in and out of the theatre.

The musical's storyline itself is your classic and tragic love story about Christian and Satine, an American composer arrives in Montmartre to find out his dream and path in life, and a star entertainer in the Moulin Rouge entertainment venue, respectively. Christian and Satine fall madly in love as they become more acquainted with each other, and it is in their affair that they face challenges that at many times seem insurmountable, though their love for each other pushes them on.

In the running time of 2 hours and 45 minutes of the whole show, this story is presented largely through song, with stunning arrangements from the creative team, which is a combination of mash-ups, medleys, and even songs from the 2001 film. Manchester Media Group was quoted that the musical is “a musical full of life because of its brilliant cast and crew.” From the colorful opening number up to the last performance, the musical’s sparkle is very evident; add to that the fact that even the cast is composed of singer superstars including Aaron Tveit and Karen Olivo performing the roles of Christian and Satine and you have a worldwide phenomenon on your hands.
